I got in!

So results day has just passed, and I got A*AA in maths, bio and chem. Brilliant results for me and I will be going to Barts in September.

School finished and exams fast approaching.

So I completed secondary school last friday, which was a little emotional but I didn't really go to much school in year 13 to feel as attached as I felt in like year 11 even though I was still going 6th form. The last revision period has began, (I should be doing mocks right now) and it is extremely stressful, regretting missing that much of school now as I feel I would be more ready if I went to school a bit more. The exams finish on the 22nd and after that I am free for like 2.5 months, which should be amazing, but revision is just so boring and long, and there is so much pressure this time round to get the grades. Just cannot wait till the 22nd, at 4.30pm.

Easter holidays!

So the Easter holidays have come and are actually nearly gone, with me done barely any productive work. I have just procrastinated all throughout the holidays when I had time to work, and when I actually was in the mood of working something always came up. I thought offers would motivate me to work, however I worked so much harder in Jan when I only had rejections. I think I have become too careless, however I only have 3 exams and they are all in June, but as my school is quite crap I have not learnt much in the lessons I have been to and I have missed a lot of lessons due to laziness to go in to school. I don't know why but school seems extremely boring lately, I'm just so bored of it. A lot of my friends from last year didn't do to well, and decided to either resit the year or go college and thats made our year very small, of about 40 students, and because of this me and a couple of my friends at school are just trying to pull ourselves across the final months of school, get the grades and start University, which hopefully will be much more entertaining. Back to schoolwork, I haven't really learnt much so far so basically I am teaching my self a lot of the last units as I try and revise and its not like recapping, luckily I did do well enough in Jan to give me a cushion in the sense I need a C(if my bio coursework is a C), a D and a high U (for maths) in these last exams to get the grades for uni, however I really want to get A's maybe if I work hard enough an A* so I feel I deserved to go into Med school, and not like I barely got in.

5 Med School Interview tips (that you probably know but might forget)

5 Tips to help you with your Med School Interviews

Ok so interviews are a step in every/most potential medic hopefuls, and I think they're the hardest step in the whole process. There are different types of med school interviews and different ways the med schools will interview. Some interviews might try and test your scientific knowledge whereas others will like to see how passionate you are into becoming a doctor. And they can be done with multi mini interviews, or just one traditional long interview. I hope this helps.

1 - Answer the questions they ask you! This may seem simple but I made this mistake in 1 of my 3 interviews and that was the one I got rejected from. Think about what they are asking from you for a couple of seconds before you answer, NEVER rush in to a answer, as a awkward silence is better than giving a terrible answer.

2 - Do your research before you go! You CAN prepare for an interview, make sure you know the prospectus and course of the med school and to impress them further find little bits of knowledge of that med school that might impress the interviewers due to it being unique from your competition. For example at my Barts interview I said I liked how they integrated PBL with lectures and they replied telling me that other med schools also offer this teaching style then again why Barts. I replied saying how Barts have the best and most varied teaching hospitals in the country, from the royal london to Barts.
At peninsula however they have a very fair system on their interviews. They ask everyone the same questions and therefore this gives you an advantage if you have done your research compared to those who  haven't in questions that include talking about the course.

3 - Prepare answers for why medicine, and why (insert med school) - These two questions usually come up and having a prepared answer for them will give you an edge over those that don't. This is similar to the 2nd point, however I believe because these two questions can make or break your interview that these 2 questions deserve there own point. Especially the why medicine question as its an extremely tough question to seem unique from, and most of your competition will have prepared an answer similar to yours however you just have to make sure you can explain in this question why being a doctor will be suited for you, and show an insight in the knowledge you have of the role of doctor.

4 - Have a mock interview to test your body language and tone of voice. Before your interview try as hard as you can to arrange a mock interview. This will give you an opportunity to see how you would perform if you had your interview then an review that performance and improve on it. They can be priceless as sometimes you can only realise what mistakes you could do in the interview, when in them.

5 - Stay passionate! Always show passions and enthusiasm in your interview. I believe my Barts and Peninsula went much better than Manchester just because I showed much more passion and enthusiasm in my answers and in the way I answered them. Think about 2 people being interviewed saying exactly the same thing to the same questions but one showing passions and enthusiasm, whereas the other one is just answering in a very boring and stale method. Which student would the med school believe is more motivated to do medicine?

I received an offer from Barts, which is probably going to be my firm, plus I got the best grades I have ever gotten this march, so overall been a great month so far today, :) so happy :).

Exams over, Interviews over and SNOW!

So my exams and interviews have finally finished from what I can say have been the hardest 2 months of my life, the barts interview went ok, not really sure on if I'll get the offer but I can tell you that the interviewers and the med school were so nice, it was more of a conversation than a interview and the students helping were really nice to, if I do somehow get an offer from barts I'll find it hard to choose between it and peninsula. The exams went ok, but I want to forget about them now and relax, however annoyingly my bio teacher has arranged a mock for us on the first topic on monday when I haven't been to many of the lessons (due to exams and interviews) so I'm prepared to take a fail from that exam as I cannot be bothered with any school work anymore. And its snowing, hopefully it snows so much that there is no school on monday, I've got so much free time now its hard to choose what to do with it .:)

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! I GOT AN OFFER!

I got an offer from Peninsula medical school and cannot explain the happiness me and my family have felt after 2 rejections, it feels amazing, I'll give future peninsula applicants tips on the interview post, after my barts interview, and my offer was of AAA, not A*AA like they were going to with students who are predicted A*, so I'm extra happy :)
